Hello, I've got three GLK-UC2X now and I've found that USB port has power once i connect the computer power, even when it's shutdown. Is there is a way to change that, is it configurable somehow? I have devices connected to it via USB and they get hot even when not in use because they stay powered through the USB. To be honest this can be good in some cases and very annoying in others, like my case.
Apparently this created a way bigger problem. My computer now is dead. After I shut it down to test the power, I tried to start the computer again, but now it wouldn't start. When I polush the power button I hear and feel the fan kick on and I see the blue LED light for about 2 seconds and then it shuts off again by it self. I tried completely removing every thing connected to it and power for a few minutes, then reconnected the power and tried again, still dies the same, goes on for 2 sec3and shuts off. Please advise, this is serious, I can't get to anything even the bios
how did you test the power? sounds like it's into protection mode. clear the CMOS without connecting to a power source? do you know how? (Relax... it doesn't look like it's dead at all, but kind of into protection mode) P.S. Make sure the right 12V power adapter is being plugged into the machine, we've seen cases mixing up the 12V/19V power after cleaning up a room, etc.
I just pushed the power button after I shut down from windows. I don't know what is CMOS or how to clear it. I only have the adapter that came with the computer.
An update. I did press and hold the bios reset button for about 10 mins. Then tried powering up the computer, it did power up. I checked on the bios, it came back to original settings. Which basically turned me back to the original problem of having power in usb when the computer is not on. Please advise what should I do now.
our suggestion: 1.) update to the latest bios https://www.pepper-forum.com/index.php?threads/latest-bios-for-glk-uc2x.38/ 2.) enable EuP, save and exit
I updated the bios to latest version, enabled the ErP, same problem. The computer wouldn't even power up and had to reset the bios using the reset button. Please advise what to do next.
I noticed that my USB hub LED never went off so after seeing this thread I Enabled EUP in bios and now the hub powers down when I turn off the computer. Computer powers up fine but I swear I have to hold the power button down a little longer than before.
you have to press and hold the power button for about 2 seconds to power on the machine after enabling EuP as no power is reserved, sorry that we did not mention about this clearly yesterday.
