Received the new Crucial RAM today. inserted in slot 2 and reset CMOS. Powered on. I get blue light and fan noise. after about 10 seconds fan will power down. now press power button and it will immediately power off. press power again and pc starts to boot. however, after showing pepper jobs boot screen the screen will go black. I've repeated this a few times, ensuring that the RAM is inserted correctly. sometimes the PC will try say its repairing... I give up! this PC does not want to allow a second stick.
Went back to single stick and it'll post fine. I'll accept it and move on before I end up taking a sledgehammer to this thing.

in the bios you should be able to see the option TDP unlocker, default of this is 10W,
you may try setting it back to the real CPU default of 6W and see if that makes a difference.
this is just to rule out the possibility that you get a CPU of a really weak margin of running at a higher clock.

I don't think this is the cause, however, you may want to remove this because I saw it in both pictures that you posted before.

that piece of fluff had vanished. having taken the cover on/off and swapped out the RAM 50 times I'm not suprised

as both RAM slots are working as per your feedback, what we can think of is a CPU which is weaker during its "birth".
the above-mentioned option about TDP may worth a final shot.

No difference. black screen after the usual cycle:- ram in. reset cmos. power. blue light and fan. powers off (auto). press power button. blue light, fan. power off (auto). power on (manual button press). There's a splash screen for American Megatrends bios and I do spot a "CMOS Checksum Error". Then Pepper Jobs splash with white circle cycle. Then black screen. If I remove the RAM and repeat the cycle above the PC will boot. I did notice after the pc boots into windows and I restart and go back into the bios that the TDP has changed back to 10. I repeated all above in case I didn't save the setting at 6 correctly with the same result. TDP will set itself back to 10 after the full process I described above.

from your description, the BIOS post-process did encounter some unknown errors and the CMOS is being reset itself.
we may swap another unit for you if you can't fix this problem.
however, it has to be around 2 weeks later because we are having Chinese New Year holidays here and the logistics are suspended.

hi there. hope you are all doing well. I would still love to be able to put more than 4GB RAM in the PC

We are currently suffering from the coronavirus outbreak,
government does not allow us to go to office.

Well there are reasons responsible for this like

    · Your PC/motherboard might not support the total amount of RAM that you installed.

    · The new RAM modules aren’t properly seated in the motherboard’s RAM slots.

    · RAM modules you purchased are compatible with your PC, but they are defective.

Check the issues and try to fix it hope this works for you to resolve the error when installing new RAM

I have been trying to install 2x4GB RAM. This is supported by the motherboard

RAM modules are seated properly. I have tried 100 time in different combinations.
RAM modules are compatible. I have tried 2 brand new RAM modules and confirmed with the Admin here that they are correct
