Ken I use the Intel Driver & Support Assistant to keep the drivers up to date. That seems to me to be the right way. Correct? The link in your post and the Intel utility shows a newer driver as well which I installed.

Correct Ken, but so far the utility seems to check this when you run the tool and than it can easily be updated so as long as that is not causing other issues that is my preferred way. Is it an idea to list the other tools that are not handled by the Intel utility and also to include if a one time install is good enough or that with a big Windows install a reinstall of these tools is necessary? Tools I saw that are listed on the forum that could be on such a list are the driver for USB-C port 1 and the Intel TAT6 - official tool. I bought pre installed versions of the GLK-UC2X and therefore assume these are installed already but I am not sure if that is the right assumption and if a new install is necessary after the Win 1809 update.

Driver for USB-C port 1 (Analogix) is not included in the Windows system indeed, that's why we have uploaded it here.
And Intel TAT6 is an official tool but it's not supposed to be released to public, it's for developers like us.
We uploaded it for those who are curious about how their systems response to loadings, this is not limited to our device.

    Detailed Description

WARNING: Failure to follow the guidance below may result in system instability

These new drivers labeled as Windows DCH graphics drivers are not backward compatible with our previous graphics drivers that we're now labeling Legacy. This means if later you want to revert to a Legacy driver you will need to uninstall the driver via Windows Apps and Features and reboot the system before installing a Legacy driver. Failure to do so may result in minor to catastrophic issues on your system as well as system instability.

DO NOT use the INF / Have-Disk method to install or uninstall this driver as it bypasses the Intel installer designed to install these new drivers, thereby possibly resulting in minor to major system instability. For this reason, we're not providing the ZIP file for the next several driver releases while users transition to this new Microsoft driver platform.

The Intel DCH driver is not the same as the legacy driver, they are not compatible with each other.

We suggest manually uninstalling the graphics device, including the old driver,

before installing this new DCH driver.

This is the best approach according to our experience.

Installing these DCH drivers directly over the legacy driver would result in system instability such as black screen, corrupted screen, etc.

    So beware of that!

We should upgrade it to 27.20.100.8587, because last time I updated it to 27.20.100.8476, but Intel driver and support is keeping prompt the updates for same version.
